Veronica Fortuna, commonly referred to as Miss Fortuna, is the owner of O, Fortuna and a member of the Pioneer City Resistance.

Biography

Before Pandora's Box

Miss Fortuna was born on July 2, 2022. At some point, she worked as a courtesan in Atom City, where many of her colleagues were stray Helpers^[1]. She maintains connections with many of her former clients and patrons^[2], including Hamilton Smith-Rawnsley^[3].

She first met Noor Shah as a client, but Miss Fortuna saw Doctor Shah as more than a client. Miss Fortuna ended their relationship so that she could sort out which of her feelings about Doctor Shah were genuine and which were fake^[4].

At some point, Miss Fortuna became the owner of a burlesque night club in Pioneer City called O, Fortuna. She also joined the Pioneer City Resistance, and uses her club to conduct resistance business^[5].

Veronica eventually came to view Isabelle Monday as her protege^[6].

In 2064, Miss Fortuna took a trip into the desert along with fellow resistance members Isabelle Monday, Con Yung, and Zero Angiers to steal the content of a crashed delivery drone^[7]. Miss Fortuna realized that the pod probably contains a Helper^[8], and she explained the plight of Helpers to Isabelle^[9].

On the car ride back from rescuing Pandora, Miss Fortuna assured Isabelle that it isn't Isabelle's fault that Pandora imprinted on her^[10], and suggested it could be fate^[11]. Miss Fortuna introduced herself to Pandora^[12]. After finding out that Pandora can't name herself, Miss Fortuna recommended that Isabelle name Pandora^[13], and offered more reassurance to Isabelle^[14]^[15].

The next day, Miss Fortuna hired Pandora as a cocktail waitress at O, Fortuna^[16], instructing Lyra Lujic to train Pandora^[17]. Miss Fortuna proposes telling anyone they don't trust that Pandora is a stray Helper^[18]. Veronica explains to the other resistance members that they will be receiving an important package from a courier^[19], before welcoming her cell's leaders, Hemmel and Natalya Ustrashkina^[20]. Miss Fortuna announces Isabelle's dance performance^[21] and praises her talent^[22]. When Con alerts Miss Fortuna to the presence of a cop^[23], Miss Fortuna sends Isabelle to deal with him^[24].

Miss Fortuna explains Isabelle's role in the resistance to Pandora^[25], and instructs Pandora to keep an eye out for the courier^[26]. When a non-resistance customer accidentally signals that he is the courier^[27], Miss Fortuna offers him free drinks for the next five visits^[28]. Upon seeing the cop return, Miss Fortuna attempts to distract him further^[29] before the cop reveals to an exacerbated Miss Fortuna that he is the courier^[30]. Miss Fortuna assures a depressed Isabelle that she will ensure Isabelle gets paid^[31]. Veronica appears shocked when she sees Isabelle hit the courior^[32], and she witnesses Hemmel welcome Pandora to the resistance^[33].
